The Brent Anthem

A SONG FOR LONDON, TOLD BY BRENT

Created with award-winning composer James Redwood, former Young People’s Poet Laureate for London Momtaza Mehri and musicians from the Brent Music Service (BMS). The Brent Anthem celebrates and represents the kind of united, diverse community we have in Brent and across London.

The Brent Anthem has been released with a special video and audio track called ‘Sparks Fly’.

8,000 young people from schools and music groups across the borough collaborated with musicians from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Brent Music Service in physical and virtual workshops throughout the year, writing lyrics and composing melodies to create a special song as a gift to their home borough.

Thousands of Brent school children and musicians from BMS youth orchestras will be performing The Brent Anthem, the full 10 minute commission, at The SSE Arena, Wembley in 2022.

The Brent Anthem has been created by RPO Resound, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s community and education department, in collaboration with Brent Music Service, made possible with the generous support of John Lyon’s Charity and the Brent 2020 Culture Fund.
