SCREENING: ZIGZAG AFTERLIVES: FILM EXPERIMENTS FROM THE 1960S AND 1970S IN INDIA

Cultural theorist and curator Nancy Adajania will present a screening programme of experimental films made in India in the 1960s and 1970s: some by a trans-disciplinary artist-run collective such as the Vision Exchange Workshop and others by avant-garde filmmakers who shook up the State-run Films Division of India with their transgressive counter-cultural energies. Zigzag Afterlives will contextualise the unacknowledged histories of collaboration and experimentation against a backdrop of nationalism, the counterculture, and the Cold War.

This screening is organised by Camden Art Centre in conjunction with artist Paul Purgas’ commission We Found Our Own Reality.
