The Mayor’s London Borough of Culture award brings Londoners together. A year-long celebration of culture in one of London’s boroughs, we bid for it in 2018, beating 22 others. The prize is money, time and support to put on a year of amazing art, performances and events in Brent, throughout 2020.
Brent 2020 will present high profile cultural events throughout the year across Brent exploring the spirit and creativity of Brent, with hundreds of local residents taking a leading role in shaping the programme.
If you are a community-based not for profit organisation and have an event taking place in the borough, you are welcome to credit your project as part of the Brent 2020 programme. Please feel free to include the Brent 2020 community logo on all relevant items, including your website, press releases, invitations, email bulletins, marketing materials, on-site signage etc.
Brent 2020 website – criteria for What’s On section
We will feature events which fit all of the following criteria. They must:
Be led by Brent-based artists or cultural organisations
Be arts and cultural activities - including events, performances, exhibitions, talks, walks, installations, festivals, carnivals, screenings and participatory projects across all art forms
Be ambitious and high quality, with a clear creative vision and likely to provide a great experience for audiences*
Take place in Brent during 2020
Tell stories or explore ideas about people and places in Brent
Be open to the general public to attend
Be Free of charge or with low cost tickets
